Concrete Care
During construction, barricades and caution tape are used.
Curing: After finishing, concrete can sprayed with a curing compound.
Driveways - After pouring, the concrete needs to cure 5 - 7 days before traffic.
Patios / Walkways - After pouring, the concrete needs to cure 3- 5 days before use.
Colored Concrete - should be sealed (low gloss or high gloss), if no sealer is applied, an approx. 15%-20% color loss can be expected within 2 years.
Sealers - Sealers should be reapplied every 3 - 5 years to protect concrete.

Should I wet freshly poured concrete to help it cure?
The best way to cure freshly poured concrete is to apply a curing compound.
How long before I can walk or drive on my new concrete?
You may walk on new concrete after 2 - 3 days from the date of the pour.
You may drive on new concrete after 5 -7 days. 4" thick concrete will require approx. 28 days to fully cure (longer during the winter months) .

Which is better, wire mesh or rebar?
Wire mesh is the min. reinforcement we use. Rebar is far superior (better), for it adds tensile strength to the concrete, and if ground movement does occur, rebar will help keep the concrete from deflecting.

Is base rock necessary?
Base rock provides a firmly compacted base for your new concrete. Thereby insuring a quality installation, that will last for many years.
What is the min. concrete thickness?
The min. concrete thickness is 3.5".
After pouring, when are the concrete forms removed?
The forms should be removed approx. 2 - 3 days after pouring.
Should you seal concrete?

Colored concrete should be sealed. If you do not seal colored concrete you can expect a color loss of approx. 15% - 20% within 2 years. Sealing colored concrete protects the surface from discoloration, staining, etc.

The sealers that we are currently using, typically last from 3 - 6 years before they should be re-applied. You may choose from a low gloss to a high gloss sealer.
